Children arrive and self-register with their name labels. They engage in free play, a key person will be available in the different play areas.
Children all come and sit together in the book corner whilst a register is taken.
This is where the children can choose from the day's activities, which might include:
Children always have the choice to go outside and play during the morning.
This book is usually chosen in planning or through children's choice. It is often followed by our "What's in the bag?" song and small group time.
All of the preschool classes come together for this part of the morning.
This could be in the form of parachute games, racing, circle games or music and movement.
The children only attending the morning session are picked up from Rainbow Room, parents sign the children out in the corridor and collect their bags.

The children arrive and are greeted by a member of staff, they collect their own name card and put their bags on their peg. They take themselves upstairs to red group classroom where they are greeted by the other teachers.
Activities are varied daily and link to different areas of the curriculum, which might include:
Free play is where the children can choose from different activities, we have a cross curricular approach to our activities - an example of this is that our role play area includes maths, literacy and mark making. Activities in red group include:
Children are split into two groups, they participate in a maths activity for two days of the week and a literacy activity for the other two.
This will either be free play or structured play in the form of playground games or a parachute.
Red group join the rest of the preschool classes for the rest of the morning.

The children sit down alongside the staff to eat their lunch. The children need to bring their own packed lunch containing no nuts including pesto. Once the children have finished their lunch there is time for free play either inside the main room or in the garden.

The children who are staying for the afternoon session come and sit together in the book corner whilst a register is taken similar to in the morning.
Free play is similar to that of the morning session however includes different activities that mentally stimulate all three age groups in the main room.
Children will have the choice to go outside during the afternoon session.
