Rainbow Room

If a child joins the Preschool close to their second birthday, they will usually be invited to start in our Rainbow Room. It is a caring and stimulating setting for two year olds to play and build their independence as the room is smaller and quieter than our main room. The activities on offer are carefully planned to ensure they are suitable for the younger age group, the safe environment helps children to settle and establish friendships with other children who will be moving through the setting at a similar pace to themselves. 

In Rainbow Room, the children follow a similar timetable to the main room with great leadership from both Mrs Valle and Mrs Powell. Holding years of experience between them, the children often form a close bond with both teachers allowing them to settle quickly and enjoy their first few months with us at the URC Preschool. 

The room has a story time area, low climbing equipment, a role play area, a jigsaw and colouring table, a play-dough table and an area for sand, water and painting. The toys on offer to the children are changed weekly and the room is adapted for when the children have their morning snack. 

Children at the preschool hold fond memories of Rainbow Room and often like to wave at Mrs Valle and Mrs Powell when walking past throughout the morning. The room is also used as a pick up location daily for children who go home after the morning session and after lunch club.
